Imagine sending your child to learn in a dual language immersion environment in Pk4 or Kindergarten at No Cost. Before now, that option wasn’t available to families in the Greater Hartford Region. New for the 2023-24 school year, Dwight-Bellizzi Dual Language Academy will offer dual language instruction for prekindergarten and kindergarten students as the only dual language magnet school in the Greater Hartford Region at no cost to families! The new magnet school is currently accepting applications for students entering grades PK4 and kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year to learn at this new, dual language school! Apply today!

The school’s language immersion model provides students with instruction in English 50% of the time  and in Spanish the other 50% – by English and Spanish speaking teachers! During their time at Dwight-Bellizzi Dual Language Academy, students will become proficient in both languages by the 8th grade and achieve biliteracy and bilingualism by the time they transition to high school! This is an amazing opportunity for students in the Greater Hartford Region!

Behind the Scenes with Art-themed Magnet Schools!

Is your child creative and inventive? Does your child love to draw, paint, sing, dance, write? Do they have a passion for music, theater, visual arts, dance, creative writing, or media production? If yes, keep reading, because RSCO has art-themed magnet schools that just may be a perfect fit for your family! These magnet schools combine the arts with 21st century high-quality academics, making learning interesting, challenging, and fun! 

Students can enroll in one of the amazing arts-themed magnet schools as early as prekindergarten and continue with the arts-theme through high school graduation through a direct pathway from arts elementary-middle schools (PK to 8) to arts high schools (9 to 12) that will have them ready to make the most out of college and start a career in the arts.

Who should apply? The main entry grade levels are PreK, Kindergarten and 9th grade, but the schools accept applications at any grade level.  So apply today!

Three of our magnet schools are authorized 21st century International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools.  IB is a global leader in education, developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. IB learners take ownership in their own learning and develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in the increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.  Through the School Choice System, students interested in the IB Programme may continue in the magnet theme from pk-12th grade and experience the Primary Years, Middle and Diploma programmes or enter at other grade levels, including elementary grades, 6th grade and 9th grade.

The RSCO School Choice Application includes the option to apply to the technical high schools in the Greater Hartford Region – A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford, E.C. Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, and Howell Cheney Technical High School in Manchester.  Whether it’s starting a career, opening a business, becoming an apprentice, or going to college, these technical schools prepare students for the 21st century!

The three technical high schools located in the greater Hartford region offer a unique career and college readiness program that prepares students for immediate employment, apprenticeship programs, and college and career opportunities.  Through the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System, students take challenging high school academic courses while mastering skills in career and technology education (CTE) programs, including such trades as: 

Students graduate with a high school diploma and certification in a trade that can be the stepping-stone to a career, college or both!

Families with children entering 9th grade next school year apply to all three technical high schools, A.I. Prince Technical High School, E.C. Goodwin Technical High School and Howell Cheney Technical High School, in the greater Hartford region and rank the schools in order of preference.
