This is an amazing educational opportunity available for your child and we hope that you choose to SAVE YOUR SEAT for the 2021-22 school year and start the next stage of your child’s education at this great magnet school.

THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

How do I respond?  To respond to this placement offer, log into your on-line application and go to the Dashboard.  Select one of two response choices near the student’s name – ACCEPT or DECLINE.

Can I schedule a school tour or another way to talk to teachers, educators, and currently enrolled families?  Contact the school/program, let them know what you are interested in and they are happy to help you!  Although, some events may not be in-person, the school’s staff have been creative with their virtual events.

How much time do I have make my decisions before the deadline? You can find the response deadline by logging into your on-line application and opening your placement letter in the Your Documents section of your Dashboard. We understand that this is a big decision for your family and want to provide you with the time and information you need to make the best decision for your family.  We hope you accept!

I held a seat at one of the technical high schools (A.I. Prince Tech, E.C. Goodwin Tech, or Howell Cheney Tech) and now I received a magnet placement offer, what do I do?  Now is the time to decide which one of these great schools you would like to attend. It may be a tough decision, but you can only pick one.  When you decide, log into your on-line application and select Accept for the school you would like to attend. Your other placement will automatically Decline.

What does it mean to accept this placement offer and what do I do next? When you accept the placement offer you have chosen to attend this magnet school for the 2021-22 school year. There are a couple more steps that you will need to complete after you accept your placement offer.

  1. Register your child with the school/school district.  Your placement letter provided information about this step and contact information if you have questions.  We also included that information on the website. Search for your magnet school here for student registration information.
  2. After you complete the registration process, please contact your local school/board of education and let them know which school you will be attending next school year.

What does it mean to decline this placement offer? We hope you choose to accept this placement offer, however, we also understand that interests and circumstances change.  If you decide that you do not want to attend this magnet school, select Decline on your Dashboard.  We want to let you know by selecting Decline, your child’s name is removed from the application pool for the 2021-22 school year and they will not be sent another placement offer.  In other words, this means that you child’s name will not be on a waitlist for any other school or program that was selected on your application for the 2021-22 school year.

This wasn’t my first choice, will I get another offer? No, unfortunately you will not be receiving another placement offer.  If you are uncertain or are considering declining this placement offer, we encourage you to visit the school page, which has details about the school here or participate in a school event (this may be an “in-person” or “virtual” event) to learn more about the school first hand to see if this school is a fit for you!

I decided I do not want to go to this school; will I be put on the waitlist if I decline or do not respond? No, you will not be put on a waitlist if you decline or do not respond.  This will be the only RSCO placement offer that you will receive for the 2021-22 school.

What if I do not respond within the deadline?  If RSCO does not receive a response by the deadline, then RSCO administratively declines the placement offer. Your child’s application will be removed from the application pool for the 2021-22 school year and your child will not receive another placement offer. In other words, this means that your child’s name will not be on a waitlist for any other school or program that was selected on your application for the 2021-22 school year.

WAITLIST NOTIFICATION

Every application year we have more families applying to a RSCO School Choice school/program than we have available seats. The families that do not receive a placement offer are sent a notice to inform them that their child’s application is on the waitlist for the schools and programs they selected on their application.

Families that receive a waitlist notification for the 2021-22 school year still have an opportunity to be placed at one of their school choices. The placement process has just started! We continue to send placement offers during the spring and summer months as seats become available.

Does this mean that my application was denied? No, the application was not denied. Your application remains in the applicant pool for the 2021-22 school year.

What do I do next? The next thing you do is decide whether you would like to stay on the waitlist for the program type (magnet, open choice or technical high schools) you selected on your application. Then, log into your application and select either “Remain” or “Remove” on your Dashboard. Repeat these steps if you have more than one child on your dashboard.

How can I find out when placement offers are sent?  You may visit our announcements page regularly for updates. You may also log into your on-line application and check for updates on your Dashboard. We will be emailing placement offers during the spring and summer months, through September 30, 2021.

Can I remove or add a school/program to my application.  No, unfortunately you will not be able to make those types of changes to your application.

Will I receive a waitlist number? No, we do not distribute waitlist numbers because we do not maintain a single waitlist.

How long am I on the waitlist? Unless you select Remove on your Dashboard, your child’s name will remain on the waitlist for all the program types (magnet, Open Choice, technical high schools) that you selected until September 30, 2021.
